My Story

I never used to like lifting weights. It was too much work. Getting in shape during PE class was too much work, with all the sprints and conditioning and what not. I’d much rather play basketball for hours on end. I never truly realized why it was so important to be strong and well conditioned until I was trying out for the Capilano Men's University Basketball team. Basketball is my passion, and I thought I’d go a long way with just my skills. Everyone at tryouts were bigger, stronger, faster, quicker, and more skilled than me. I got pushed around quite easily which made me regret all those PE classes where I didn’t invest in my body and it cost me.

Fast forward 10 years later, where all I do is invest in my body and I preach it to my clients and everyone around me to do the same every day. I decided to do this as a career because I wanted to know how to train optimally to increase overall performance (whether for a specific sport, or in general), conditioning, health, while staying injury-free.

I was born and raised in the Philippines, then relocated to North Vancouver in 2003. I then attended the University of Saskatchewan to complete my Kinesiology degree before coming back home to North Vancouver. I work with a variety of clients who all have different goals. Whether it’s coming back from an injury, lose fat, build muscle, or get stronger, faster, jump higher, I’m your guy! Movement truly is medicine and my goal is educate, guide, and inspire everyone to move more and invest in themselves!

When I’m not lifting weights, I’m most likely shooting hoops somewhere or I’m home playing with our dog Piper or watching FRIENDS. I also like to spend time with my friends and family indulging in different foods. In the summer I love hiking and going for bike rides in Stanley Park! I’m not into winter sports just yet but the time will come… I think. My go-to healthy meal consists of chicken breasts with rice and sautéed vegetables! My go-to “cheat meal” would be some Korean fried chicken and rice, maybe a pizza, and maybe some sushi then top it off with some Earnest Ice Cream. It’s all about balance!

Currently, I am completing my studies to become a Registered Massage Therapist! I will be able to provide massage treatments in Fall 2024! Stay tuned!

My Story

My passion for movement and training started as a young girl. I participated in ballet, lyrical, and jazz then transitioned to kickboxing. I kickboxed for 8 years and achieved my low-black belt. Kickboxing was incredible and it served as my sanctuary for a while but eventually, it also became my pitfall. I suffered three concussions, a shoulder injury, a fractured ankle, along with knee and hip problems, which are still a problem for me today . I knew I wanted to pursue movement as a career because I am fascinated by how the body works so I wanted to be more knowledgeable and apply what I’ve learned in order to help myself with my own injuries. Moreover I want to be able to help people come back from injuries while also preventing them in the long-term.

I completed my degree at the University of Saskatchewan, then moved back home to North Vancouver where I now work with clients of all ages and abilities. Coming from a Kinesiology background, I am now able to train myself in a way that is optimal for me, my history, and my body. I’ve helped many clients who suffer from a variety of chronic and/or acute injuries, whether it is low back pain, knee or hip pain, shoulder impingement, concussions, you name it!

Whatever your goal is, I am here to help you move and feel better, while also bulletproofing your body!

In my spare time, I LOVE to read a variety of books (but I love Stephen King), ski in the winter, go hiking in the summer, and spend time with friends and family. I also enjoy hot yoga and pairing that with my training regimen in the gym! I believe in balance, which means I do my best to fuel my body with whole foods, fruits, vegetables, good carbohydrates, with lots of protein! My guilty pleasure meal is pizza and ice cream!

In addition to personal training, kinesiology, and active rehabilitation, I also offer ICBC Kinesiology sessions as we do direct billing. If you have been in a car accident, I can and will help you, to the best of my ability, get back to your pre-injury self!
